This winter, follow a star across the desert… to Palm
Springs. This glamorous city in the
heart of Southern California is set to become a dazzling, star-studded arena
for two weeks in January when it plays host to the annual Palm Springs
International Film Festival. This year, A-list
names such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney; Gary Oldman; Michelle Williams, and
many more graced the city during the festival, as all eyes were on those
hotly-tipped for an Oscar.
Palm Springs has long been associated with the
glitterati of Hollywood and for many stars and starlets of the silver screen it
was a 20th century retreat, away from the hustle and
bustle of the movies. This desert
retreat was home to the likes of Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra & Elizabeth
Taylor… to name just a
few. Its associations with the golden
age of cinema carry forward into the 21st century, when modern-day
screen legends flock to Palm Springs for this prestigious awards ceremony!
Visitors may choose to stay in one of the stunning boutique hotels in Palm Springs, or even
rent a celebrity home and spend hours relaxing by their own pool in blissful
privacy. Days can be spent exploring the lush Indian Canyons and the San Andreas fault line, taking in the spectacular
views from the Aerial Tramway, enjoying some retail therapy in the nearby outlet
centre or the boutiques on Palm Canyon Drive; whilst the nights in
Palm Springs are filled with a thousand stars…
