New England Winter Fun

...ideas

New England ski areas and resorts are a favorite of UK visitors – where winter usually features sunshine and blue skies. It’s a perfect winter getaway without worries about altitude adjustments experienced in in western US ski resorts.  Take a quick 6-7 hour flight to Boston, spend a few days shopping, dining and seeing the sites, and then head for the mountains. Most ski areas are a 2-4 hour drive from the city.

New England features 50 ski areas and resorts, with excellent ski schools, reasonable costs, and mountains for all skiing and boarding abilities. Many resorts also offer skiing and snow tubing at night.  Try Sunday River with its eight interconnected mountains, four base lodges, and a Chondola lift which takes skiers from the base to the North Peak in just seven minutes. Or head to Attitash in the beautiful White Mountain National Forest, with 23 miles of trails and glades and a new thrill ride – the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster.

For other New England winter adventures, don a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis and head out across breath-taking snow-filled landscapes. Speed demons will enjoy a snowmobile adventure (the state of Maine alone offers over 14,000 miles of groomed trails), or try a dog sled ride, a horse-drawn sleigh, or zip lining through the trees on a canopy tour. New Englanders love their outdoor adventures, and there are plenty to choose from in winter!
