Oregon Bounty - Harvest Festivals Offer a Taste of the Season

...News

This fall, visitors can sample Oregon’s artisan wines, spirits, and brews matched with a plethora of fresh, local cuisine as they hop, skip or road-trip to harvest festivals across the state. It’s our annual gastronomic celebration: Oregon Bounty!  Here are just a few to look out for:Mt. Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival (1-2 October) Native American storytelling, folk music, arts & crafts, exhibits, scarecrow-making contest - all held at Mt. Hood Village Resort.Chowder, Blues & Brews(7-8 October) Craft Breweries, Culinary Experiences taking place at Florence, on the coast. The Wedge Festival (8 October) The Wedge Festival returns to Rogue’s Green Dragon Bistro and Brewpub in Portland. This Farmers Market style festival showcases cheeses and cheese-makers from throughout the west.  Hood River Harvest Fest (14-16 October) An extravaganza of Oregon’s agricultural bounty that includes live music and a pie-eating contest, all set against the scenic backdrops of Mt Hood and the Columbia River Gorge. Whether you’re in the mood to bite into something crisp at a fall festival, indulge in piping hot chowder at a seafood festival, or sample some of the world’s best pinots and microbrews, Oregon is bustling with tasty food events all year long. And if you’re a fan of mushrooms, garlic, cranberries, or oysters, well, there are events to celebrate those, too! Wineries - Oregon’s wines go well beyond the Pinot Noirs we’ve become famous for.Craft Breweries - IPAs, reds, stouts, porters, ambers, wheats… so many beers, so little time.Spirits - Not to be left out, Oregon’s artisan spirits join our wineries and craft breweries in offering alcoholic refreshment.Farmer's Markets, Farm Stands & U-Picks - Outposts of Oregon’s freshest bounty, you can find Farmers’ Markets, Farm Stands and U-Picks in almost every city.Seafood - Don’t let the name fool you. Yes, seafood comes from the ocean, but also from our rivers and lakes around the state.Artisan Producers - Chocolates, cheeses, breads, ice creams… Oregon’s artisan producers make it all.Coffee & Tea - True, we don’t grow the leaves or beans here, but once we get our hands on them we know what to do.Culinary Experiences - Cooking classes and al fresco dining opportunities are just two of the culinary experiences you can find in Oregon.Picking & Foraging - Want to get your hands dirty? Head out and find your own bounty.Ranches - Go right to the source of Oregon’s best sources of meat.Places to Eat - If there was some way you could put all of Oregon on a plate, the flavors would combine into one of the most delicious ambrosias you’ve ever tasted. Until that time, sample the Flavors of Oregon, one bite at a time.
