Native American Adventures

Yá'át'ééh – or Welcome in Navajo!

If you believe that North America has no really old “history”, then let America 4 You show you otherwise!

In 1994, convinced that our in-depth knowledge and love of the West could be used to select the best product line possible, America 4 You L.L.C. was founded as a boutique inbound operator. It started as and stayed a family business, now run by daughter Lena, who shares our love for the American West. Lena has a master’s degree in Sustainable Destination Management and is currently the Chairwoman of the International Inbound Travel Association.

Specializing in trips that require extensive research and time investment America 4 You quickly became known as the company to turn to concerning specialty programs.

All three of us have traveled extensively in the USA and Canada investing countless hours in learning about the products and regions of the West and beyond. From the beginning there was a deep interest in the Native American culture and over the years friendships developed that resulted in a partnership dedicated to promoting Native American adventures to the overseas visitors.  It was always most important to us that we are the liaison between these experiences and international visitors, while our Native American partner uses his knowledge to educate indigenous suppliers and get them tourism-ready!

Together we created itineraries that go beyond Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon (even though both are, of course, important!). While we currently concentrate on the American Southwest, we are also developing itineraries in South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Oklahoma and beyond. Want to stay on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in SD and spend the day listing to an Oglala Lakota tribal member talking about the Wounded Knee Massacre? Learn how to make frybread? Create your own silver bracelet? Enjoy an evening watching Native American dances and listening to songs?

While we have created multiple fly-drives visiting Native American tribes, we believe it’s best to visit under the guidance of a knowledgeable Native guide, who can tell stories, explain the Native way of life and offer insight into Native culture.

Imagine staying at historic Thunderbird Lodge near Canyon de Chelly and hearing stories about the “shape shifter”. Then visit the pueblos of New Mexico. Go on a guided sunset hike in San Juan County and learn about the importance of “Bear’s Ears National Monument” to the people whose ancestors have lived in the area for thousands of years. Attend a PowWow. Be amazed by the stories of the Hopi runners, who connected their villages through running and in 1912 participated in the Stockholm Olympics. Stay at an amazing Bed and Breakfast in the Village of Zuni and enjoy a blue corn pancake breakfast in the morning – the best you ever had.

There is so much to learn, to explore to share cross-culture – and America 4 You wants to make sure it is done with respect and in ways that benefits both the Native American tribal members and the international guest eager to learn and experience Native culture beyond the picture painted by famous author Karl May about the “Cowboy and Indian” myth! And about that “no history” - situated in Navajo Country, Arizona, and founded in 1150 by the Hopi tribe, who still live there today, Oraibi is the oldest continuously inhabited town in America.

“hágoónee” – OK – things are settled, see you later!
