Philadelphia Named Most Walkable U.S. City to Visit – Three Years Running!

Philadelphia has once again been crowned the Most Walkable City to Visit in the USA by the prestigious USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards – for the third consecutive year.
Beating out major metropolitan destinations like Boston, Chicago, and New York City, the win reaffirms the city’s growing reputation as a destination where history, culture, and great food are always just a few steps away.

Selected by a panel of travel experts and voted on by the public, the award highlights Philadelphia’s appeal as an easy-to-navigate city that suits international visitors eager to explore on foot. Whether strolling between museums, stopping for a coffee in a leafy square, or browsing independent boutiques, everything is within easy reach.
“Walkability is one of our greatest strengths, especially for international travellers who want to maximise their time exploring,” said Gregg Caren, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. “With world-class hotels, historic sites, diverse dining, and cultural attractions all within a compact, accessible footprint, Philadelphia delivers an experience that’s easy to navigate and hard to forget.”
From Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River Trail, it’s just 2.4 miles (about 3.8 km) across the city’s vibrant Center City district – making it entirely walkable in under an hour. Along the way, visitors encounter outdoor art, iconic attractions like the Liberty Bell and Philadelphia Museum of Art, and plenty of neighbourhood cafés, galleries, and local restaurants.
Exploring the city on foot also offers opportunities to join themed walking tours, covering everything from revolutionary history and architecture to food and LGBTQ+ culture.
With the USA’s 250th birthday on the horizon in 2026 too, there’s never been a better time to discover why Philadelphia is truly a world-class city – one step at a time.
