GRAB A BARGAIN Leave space in your luggage for the bargains found at outlet malls. The biggest, Sawgrass Mills, is close to Fort Lauderdale. For designer labels, The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills offers luxury-brand outlet shopping, with other upmarket outlet shopping centres including Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in New York and Fashion Outlets of Chicago and South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California. TAX-FREE SHOPPING Several states have no sales tax or offer refunds for visitors. Five states – Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon and Alaska – have no state sales tax. Pennsylvania also has many tax-exempt items, including most clothing and shoes. International shoppers can get their tax refunded on purchases at one of the 4,500 stores in Texas participating in its Tax-Free Shopping programme. FLEA MARKETS Flea markets can turn up some real steals. Colorado’s Mile High Flea Market, near Denver, features 3,000 stalls on its 80-acre site. There's also a farmers’ market, food stalls and rides. New England’s largest flea market is the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in New Milford, Connecticut, which operates every Sunday from April to December, typically with about 500 vendors. TOP SHOPPING STREETS Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive is home to some of the ritziest stores.
