GENTLE GIANTS Florida’s Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge is the only place in the U.S. where swimming with the endangered Florida manatee is allowed. The refuge was created to protect Three Sisters Springs, where up to 1,000 of them congregate for the warm spring waters each winter, the best time to view them.
