The Barnes' exhibits were collected by Dr. Albert C. Barnes between 1912 and 1951. It is located on Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Eastern State Penitentiary Eastern State Penitentiary was the first prison to implement separate incarceration. The historic prison, which is kept in a state of 'preserved ruin,' offers a range of tours. Armed with an audio tour voiced by actor Steve Buscemi, visitors can stroll among its crumbling halls, cellblocks and empty guard towers to learn about former inmates, including Al Capone.
