Day one
Upon arriving in Fredericksburg, be sure to stop at the
Visitor Information Centre for a friendly welcome, maps, directions, information on where to eat and what to do and more. Be sure to make time to watch the
10-minute welcome video highlighting Fredericksburg's history and attractions. The Visitor Information Centre also has public restrooms, free WiFi, and free parking.
For lunch, enjoy a picnic at one of the shaded picnic tables at the Visitor Information Centre or
pick up a sandwich and head to your lodging accommodations for a light lunch.
Insider Tip: Most of the shops along Main Street are open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, but remember these are locally owned and operated shops, so hours vary.
Day two
Today, pick the activity that suits you.
Take time to learn about Fredericksburg's history and heritage at the
Pioneer Museum. Explore historic Sunday Houses, see an old school house and learn about Fredericksburg's founding, which took place more than 175 years ago.
Insider tip: The museum is open for entry Wednesday through Monday, but the grounds are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended as limited walk-up tickets are available.
Day three
Rise early this morning for an awe-inspiring hike to the top of
Enchanted Rock. Take in 360-degree views and cooler temperatures as the sun rises. Be sure to bring plenty of water, especially if you plan on spending most of your day here.
Or take a leisurely walk up to
historic Cross Mountain, which also includes 360-degree views of the Texas Hill Country and picnic tables, perfect for enjoying breakfast.
Insider tip: Reservations to Enchanted Rock can be made up to 30 days in advance. Reservations are highly encouraged and are required for park entry on weekends and holidays. Spring is the busiest time for the park. Pets are not allowed on the Summit Trail. The park closes due to rain and when capacity is reached.
If you’re up for a night-time adventure, the park is open for day visitors until 10 p.m. – add stargazing to your itinerary. Enchanted Rock is an International Dark Sky Community and is one of the
best places for stargazing in Texas! Don’t forget your flashlights for your journey back to the car.
Finish out your evening with some live Texas music at one of the areas restaurants featuring live music or head the legendary
Luckenbach Texas for two-stepping. The historic dance hall holds concerts most Friday and Saturday nights as well as picker circles daily under the oak trees.
