Begin your trip at the Visitor Information Centre at 302 E. Austin Street, just a block off Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg. Not only will you find free public parking, you’ll also be greeted by friendly local experts ready to help you make the most of your Fredericksburg adventure. Be sure to pick up a free kid's brochure highlighting local things to do for kids at the front desk and watch the free video in the theatre.
Fredericksburg is home to more than 400 special events and festivals each year. Spring Break brings even more family-friendly fun with several special events at local attractions like Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, the Pioneer Museum, National Museum of the Pacific War, Texas Wine Country Jellsystone Park Camp-Resort, Yellow Door and Next Door Studios, local parks, wineries and more. Plan Ahead. Make reservations for must-visit restaurants, attractions & your favourite place to stay in advance. It's never too early to plan!
Visit Midweek. While some restaurants may close on a Monday or Tuesday, plenty of local restaurants are ready to welcome guests each day of the week. Click here to sort & filter local restaurants by culinary genre, meals served, restaurant style, open days and more.
Make Time for Shopping. The 150 shops, boutiques and art galleries that call Fredericksburg home are all locally owned and operated. Stores typically close for the day at 5:00 PM, so be sure to double check special spring break operating hours with individual stores so you don't miss any favourite finds.
Head into the countryside. While exploring Main Street is a must-do while you're in Fredericksburg be sure to head out into the Texas Hill Country for other must-sees like the Lyndon B. Johnson State and National Parks, live music at Luckenbach Texas, a visit to Wildseed Farms, scenic views along the Gillespie County Country Schools driving trail and more.
Enjoy the Dark Skies. Fredericksburg is known for its starry night skies. The area is home to two International Dark Sky Parks - the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Visit either park or just step outside in the evening and take time to enjoy the night sky.
