8 top romantic USA spots

City lights or outdoors fun? What’s your idea of romance in the USA? Whatever you think would be the best romantic break in the USA, you’ll find it.

Saddle up for romance in Colorado

What could be more romantic than a stay in Loveland? Couples can get married or renew their vows in the aptly named Loveland, Colorado, when the town hosts its annual Valentine’s Day group wedding on 14 February 2018. The ceremony takes place at Loveland’s Foote Lagoon Amphitheatre and potential brides and grooms can register for tickets online after applying for a marriage license through Larimer County. Take your honeymoon in Sylvan Dale Ranch, right. During February’s ‘Love Month’ the ‘Sweetheart B&B getaway’ package for two includes a romantic trail ride across the ranch’s 3,200 acres of ridge top, where you can take in beautiful vistas of the Rockies.

A tasty tour of San Francisco

Food lovers should head to San Francisco with restaurants boasting flavours from all around the world. Visit the hip Latino Mission District for a taste of burritos from La Taqueria, visit the largest Chinatown outside of Asia for classic dim sum served at Yank Sing or noodles made fresh in at China Live, or visit Fisherman’s Wharf for traditional Clam Chowder at Boudin Bakery, served in their famous sourdough bread. Try twinning it with Los Angeles for a West Coast adventure or if you’re travelling solo, cover the Western coast with other singles.

Get on your bike or hike in West Hollywood

Hit West Hollywood for an outdoors couple’s holiday. Explore the city during the day with Bikes & Hikes, then make like a local and head over to Runyon Canyon for an intense hour-long hike with fantastic views over the Greater Los Angeles area and the Hollywood sign. Follow this with a couples pampering session at the Spa at Sunset Marquis before star-gazing - and spotting - at a rooftop bar like Catch LA and E.P.+L.P..

Go by gondola in Huntington Beach

This romantic ride isn’t just for Venice, you know! One of the best places for a gondola ride in the USA is Huntington Beach aka Surf City USA. Take a couples paddleboard lesson by day, led by local pro surf and SUP champion, Rocky McKinnon. At sunset, take a gondola ride, rowed by National Champion Gondoliers, left. You’ll sip on wine as you explore the canals and islands of Huntington Harbour and Sunset Beach.

Be star-crossed in Palm Springs

Catch stars, planets and passing meteors in the California desert while camping in Joshua Tree National Park – it was named a designated International Dark Sky Park in 2017. If you’d rather not sleep out in the open, book into the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs, with its glorious views across Coachella Valley from its mountain-perched swimming pool.

Try lux for lovers in Arizona

Take off for the desert for splendid isolation in Scottsdale, Arizona. With its glorious sun, beautiful sunsets and awe-inspiring desert views, it’s a great place to get away from it all. Make like a Hollywood A-lister and check into the luxurious Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain, which has one of the best spas in the country.

Romance in the heart of New York

Iconic New York City is one of the most romantic places in the USA. Take a stroll through Central Park or take a boat trip with a view over the city’s famous landmarks. Get your photo taken at the 10th Annual Times Square Valentines Heart, Window to the Heart where the world's largest lens is set up to take shots of the city’s lovers.

Georgia getaway

Combine a trip to Savannah near the Georgia coast, named by ‘Travel + Leisure’ magazine as one of the world’s best cities for romance, with a trip to Jekyll Island. On this dreamy barrier island off the Georgia coast, you can idle on the sand, take a dolphin cruise, explore a local lighthouse or go for a romantic horseride along the beach. For the full luxury, try The Jekyll Island Club Hotel.  Posted on: 11/02/2018
