Must-Visit USA Destinations

The 8 Destinations UK Travellers Should Visit in 2026

With 100-year anniversaries, major sporting events, and once-in-a-generation celebrations, 2026 is shaping up to be an exceptional year to explore the United States. Whether you’re after sunshine, culture, iconic road trips or big sporting moments, these ten destinations should be at the top of your list.

1. Florida

Florida remains a UK visitors favourite, but 2026 offers even more reasons to visit. Orlando’s world-famous Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando theme parks will have lots of new and exciting additions in 2026 like a reimagining of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to include Muppet Theming! But this year, Miami will also be buzzing with FIFA World Cup matches and lively fan zones. Visiting Miam in in 2026 will allow you to combine match days with exploring South Beach’s Art Deco charm or venture further out to the Florida Keys, where clear blue waters, coral reefs, and laid-back island vibes offer perfect contrast to the buzz of Miami. Bayfront Park in Miami will host the official FIFA Fan Festival for the 2026 World Cup.

2. New York City

New York will be one of the hottest FIFA World Cup 2026 hubs. MetLife Stadium, an easy trip from Manhattan, will host eight matches, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on July 19. Between games, enjoy timeless highlights such as Central Park, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Rockefeller Center will transform into an immersive fan village and is an ideal place to soak up the atmosphere surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

3. Hawaii

If paradise is calling, Hawaii is the answer. Snorkelling with turtles, scenic hikes across volcanic landscapes, and learning about Polynesian heritage offer an unforgettable island escape. Hawaii also pairs brilliantly with West Coast cities including San Francisco for a twin-centre holiday.

4. Boston

Boston’s 2026 calendar is packed, and that makes it a must-visit destination for 2026! The Boston Marathon takes place on April 20, followed by FIFA World Cup matches from June 13 to July 9, complete with citywide fan zones. As America celebrates 250 years, Boston will host special exhibitions, reenactments and public art. July also brings Sail Boston, where magnificent tall ships fill the harbour. Boston is also a perfect city to twin-centre with New York and/or Cape Cod!

5. New Orleans

New Orleans promises festivals galore in 2026. Mardi Gras falls on February 17, while Sail 250 arrives from May 28 to June 1, marking the city’s role in America’s 250th celebrations. The new Fairmont New Orleans hotel also opens in June; perfect timing for football fans heading to FIFA World Cup events!

6. Route 66

The Mother Road turns 100 in 2026, making it a great year for your once-in-a-lifetime Route 66 Road Trip. Celebrations stretch from Springfield’s April kick-off to Tulsa’s world-record classic-car parade in May and Amarillo’s ten-day Texas Route 66 Festival in June. Expect nostalgia, quirky stops and stunning landscapes. Pair your Route 66 Road Trip with a stop in Las Vegas and/or LA for the ultimate USA Multi-Centre adventure!

7. Dallas

Dallas takes centre stage as a major World Cup host city. The city’s blend of contemporary architecture, cowboy heritage, and exceptional museums makes it a fascinating place to explore. A trip to Dallas is easily paired with Fort Worth, New York or Hawaii for multi-destination adventures.

8. Deep South USA Road Trip

For music lovers, a 2026 road trip through the Deep South is essential. Start in Nashville, where Dolly Parton’s new SongTeller Hotel is set to open, and immerse yourself in country music heritage. Continue to Memphis to stay at the iconic Peabody Hotel and visit Graceland, where Elvis Presley’s legacy and memorabilia bring rock ’n’ roll history to life. From blues to country to rock, this trip is unlike any other.
