Elvis, Exploring and Eating in Tupelo

Let us introduce you to Tupelo, Mississippi!

From the birthplace of an international icon and one of the country's most visited national parks to the first and only meadery in Mississippi, things you thought could never happen in a small town like Tupelo happen all the time…

Relive the journey that changed music forever

Elvis was born in a two-room shack in Tupelo, which you can tour at the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum, where he grew up dreaming of becoming a superhero.

Then, for his 11th birthday, his mother bought him a guitar from the Tupelo Hardware Company, and ten years later, he made his first gold record. The rest, as they say, is history!

Around Tupelo, there’s also an Elvis Guitar Trail, Elvis’ Tupelo Driving Tour or Self-Guided Bicycle Tour, and for die-hard fans, the All Shook Up: Elvis’ Tupelo Experience digital trail.

Choose your own path on the Natchez Trace Parkway

Explore centuries of history or just hike part of this beautiful 444-mile scenic trail along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tupelo, Mississippi, which is also the fourth most visited national park in the country and is headquartered in Tupelo.

See how Tupelo's past shaped America's future as you follow Tupelo’s heritage trails, uncovering stories of the Chickasaw Nation, the American Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement in Tupelo.

Taste classic Mississippi food, with a Tupelo twist

Tupelo food has creative folks doing things their own way and creating new tastes in distinctive culinary ways that will put a smile on your face. From skillet cookies and doughburgers to barbecue taters and golden fried chicken, Tupelo is a foodie’s paradise.

Tupelo’s chefs source local ingredients that become delicious dishes served across town. With an abundance of ethnic eateries, Southern staples, creative coffee houses, and artisan cocktails, Tupelo is positively the place for flavor-filled getaways.

Tupelo is also home to Queen’s Reward Meadery, Mississippi’s first and only meadery. They make small-batch meads in their exquisite tasting room, where visitors can sample the different varieties and take home a bottle of their favorite mead.

With more than 200 restaurants ready to serve up Southern charm, you’ll be eating great food morning, noon, and night!
