Atlanta Triumphs

Lonely Planet has included the creative, dynamic city of Atlanta in its Best in Travel list for 2022...

The only US city on the Lonely Planet Best in Travel list for 2022, Atlanta has also been named by National Geographic in their prestigious Best of the World 2022 list for history and culture. World-class restaurants, nightlife, professional sports teams, and an abundance of attractions and events help make Atlanta the centre for entertainment in the South.

Explore the state capital's role in historic events at museums like the Atlanta History Center, Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. Marvel at the new Illuminarium and taste iconic flavours at the World of Coca-Cola. Discover the city's diverse culinary scene and see why shoppers love Atlanta for everything from boutiques to antiques. For family fun, romantic getaways, urban adventure, unique events and so much more, Atlanta is a city worth visiting again and again.

Planning a trip and wondering where to stay? Here's two new options:

Positioned between skyscrapers and tree-canopied estates, The Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Buckhead has transformed a historic 1950s residential building into a boutique 217-room hotel. A boutique enclave, it blends mid-century style with modern-chic design. Its supper club-style restaurant The Betty serves contemporary continental American classics, while Willow Bar is an oasis within a secret garden. St. Julep, the rooftop lounge on the ninth floor, is great for panoramic city views and cocktails.

The 111-room Wylie Hotel on Ponce De Leon Avenue opened in May 2021 in the city’s Old Fourth Ward. Located in the original 551 Ponce building that dates back to the 1920s, its styled as a ‘home-away-from-home’. Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline are nearby. Mrs P’s Bar & Kitchen serves southern eats and inventive drinks.

What's New in Atlanta for 2022?

The 50-acre Gulch renovation project - soon to be known as Centennial Yards - will feature 12 million square feet of retail shops, restaurants, and hotels with up to 1,500 rooms. ATL Next, a $6 billion modernisation project at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will see the launch of a new InterContinental Hotel.
