Just a Drop, Visit
USA’s Charity Partner, launches the #WalktotheWell
Calling all Visit USA members! We would like to invite you
to take part in a brand new challenge launched for World Water Day (22/03) in
partnership with our long-term charity partner, Just a Drop.
The charity has partnered with leading creative agency, VCCP
to launch a disruptive social media campaign, the #WalktotheWell, which asks Visit
USA members to follow in the footsteps of Ann, a real-life Kenyan woman who
walks nine kilometres each day to collect water, all the while carrying a heavy
jerry can filled with water on her back - but you’ll be glad to hear that every
step you take through the challenge will be virtual, and on Twitter.
The campaign asks Visit USA members to scroll this journey
on Twitter. With over 2000 tweets, each representing just over four metres of
Ann’s daily journey, it’s the longest Twitter thread ever made and really puts
into perspective the length of Ann’s journey and the journey that millions of
women and girls are forced to make each day just to collect water.
To take
part, simply click this link to the thread: https://twitter.com/Just_a_Drop/status/1635366676932751392 and scroll as far
as you can through Ann’s journey; scrolling alongside her as she navigates some
of the obstacles and hardships that she faces each and every day. Once you’ve
reached your scrolling limit, like the tweet you finish on, and you will be
told how much of the walk you have managed and how far Ann still has to
go.
Just a Drop is a charity close to Visit USA’s heart – since
becoming our charity partner over 15 years ago, the Visit USA Community has
raised over £53,000 for the organisation, helping thousands of people across
the world to access safe water and sanitation. In fact, through your generous
support, last year we raised £4,200 to enable 236 students at Wambiti School in
Kenya to access safe water and sanitation, not far from where Ann lives.
So, we’re calling on the Visit USA community to rally
together again to help Just a Drop to launch this fantastic campaign by taking
part in the challenge, sharing the campaign on as many social media platforms
as you can, and telling your friends, family, colleagues, and suppliers to take
part as well!
For an
in-depth guide to getting involved, we’ve put together this deck which includes
social posts and suggested content too: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1jsfYB913pOnEVF0Z9KikeXzJxJvTO6NfJ7i1Vi9pB00/edit?usp=sharing
There’s also a ‘How
to Guide’ to talk you through the steps to taking part.
With your help, we can enable Just a Drop to reach more
people like Ann with safe water and sanitation; transforming lives.
