Here at Visit USA we marked US Independence Day with a celebration of the best USA travel stories in the UK media at our Visit USA Association Media Awards.
The 2017 Visit USA Association Media Awards ceremony - sponsored by VisitDallas and Fort Worth CVB - was held at the St Ermin’s Hotel in central London. 15 travel journalists or organisations were honoured for their exceptional contribution to US media coverage over the past year. The awards were judged by the Visit USA PR Committee, chaired by Jonathan Sloan.
This year we introduced a Digital Influencer of the Year Award, which was won by Ella Buchan and Sarah Lee from Captivate for their epic US Route 1 campaign. Other winners included Billy Connolly, whose Track Across America documentary for ITV in which he took a railway journey through 26 states, won the Best Broadcast category, and Katie McGonagle’s Wild Blue Yonder feature on Yellowstone National Park in Travel Weekly’s Aspire, won Best Travel Trade Press Feature. Freelance travel writer and former travel editor of The Daily Mirror, Neil Murray, was named Travel Writer of the Year for his endless commitment to producing quality features on the US.
Come back over the next days as we'll be sharing these brilliant and evocative stories about the USA!
