Summer in Washington, DC is a thrilling and vibrant time, filled with celebrations, cultural festivals and unforgettable experiences. We are full of PRIDE here as we just celebrated Capital Pride and kicked off our launch to WorldPride 2025.
This season is also packed with
exciting upcoming events such as the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and DC
JazzFest. Only in DC can you experience the nation’s best July 4th fireworks
and visit the sites of the Declaration of Independence and the Star-Spangled
Banner—all for free. We can't wait to see you in the city and show you why

District Developments
The Georgetown Market will
be revitalized in 2024 and will open a new Osteria Mozza restaurant and market. City
officials unveiled the Downtown Action Plan, a $400 million economic
development strategy for DC’s downtown area that aims to attract more residents
and businesses. The Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden is undergoing
a multi-year renovation anticipated to open in 2026.

Events & Activities
Summer in Washington, DC
offers free festivals, Washington Nationals baseball games, Fourth of
July celebrations and waterfront adventures. Don’t miss the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, where music,
crafts and family-friendly demonstrations take center stage. Other key events
include the Broccoli City Festival (July 27-28), Mubadala Citi DC Open (July 27 -Aug. 4), and DC JazzFest (Aug. 30 - Sept. 1)

Capitol Riverfront
Capitol Riverfront, also known as Navy Yard
(the area houses the administrative seat of the U.S. Navy), is a buzzing
neighborhood in the District that offers something for everyone. Discover the

scenic Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. Catch a game at Nationals Park and relax at the beautiful Yards Park.
