As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary in
2026, Columbus is hosting a year-long programme of events, exhibitions and
celebrations that showcase Ohio's role in American history. From historic sites
and cultural attractions to one of the nation's biggest Independence Day
celebrations, visitors will find plenty of ways to be part of this historic
milestone.
America 250-Ohio Signature Homecoming & Picnic
The centrepiece of Columbus' America250 celebrations takes
place on July 4, 2026. Hosted across the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus Commons and
the Ohio Theatre, the Signature Homecoming & Picnic will feature
family-friendly activities, live entertainment, historical reenactments, food
vendors, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a Columbus Symphony
concert and a fireworks finale.

Throughout 2026, the Ohio Statehouse will host a variety of
exhibitions and special events commemorating the nation's 250th anniversary.
Highlights include Mapping the American Revolution, The American
Freedom Train, Liberty Tree and the American Revolution

Red, White & BOOM!
Known as the Midwest's largest fireworks display, Red, White
& BOOM! attracts more than 400,000 visitors each year. The event includes a
parade, live entertainment, food vendors and a spectacular fireworks show over
downtown Columbus.
