A Cleveland Halloween, Made for Little Ones

Halloween can be a lot when you're small. Too dark, too loud, one fright too many. Cleveland leans very much the other way, with a run of costume-friendly family events perfect for those little ones.
Here are a few spooky-season events to consider this October in Cleveland:
---------------------------------------------
After dark, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo turns into something downright boo-tiful, rather than all-out scary, for Halloween. Families come in costume for more than a dozen trick-or-treat stations, meet-and-greets with costumed characters, a Monster Mash dance party and rides on the Boomerang train. It runs Thursday to Sunday evenings, 5–9pm, from 1 to 25 October 2026.
Down in the Flats the SEAsonal fun doesn't stop, as the Greater Cleveland Aquarium fills its tanks with underwater jack-o'-lanterns and sends costumed divers in among the sharks and fish. Enjoy spooky fun under the sea with animal encounters, crafts and a take-home treat bag, all after hours across select evenings from 22 to 30 October 2026. The aquarium also offers a quieter, sensory-friendly experience on Sunday 25 October 2026.
Little boos and ghouls can get their game on at the lush Cleveland Botanical Garden on Saturday 24 October 2026, noon–3pm. There's a trick-or-treat trail through the Hershey Children's Garden, plus a DJ dance party, games, storytime and bag-decorating. Towering skeletons linger in the Skeleton Grove through 1 November 2026, too, if you dare.
With its massive collection of roller coasters boasting superlatives like tallest, fastest and largest, Cedar Point is no stranger to being on the slightly scary side. During the fall, however, it's no tricks and all treats when the park is transformed for HalloWeekends. By day it's crazy corn mazes, pint-sized tractors, trick-or-treating and costumed characters – all great for younger kids and families. After dark, on select nights, the scare zones and haunted mazes come out for older kids and teenagers who fancy a proper fright. It runs select dates through 1 November 2026.
