Halloween can be a lot when you're small. Too dark, too loud, one fright too many. But the Cincy Region hasn't forgotten the gentler side of the season. From trick-or-treat mornings to fall festivals, there's family-sized fun for all ages right across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky this Halloween.
We've pulled together a few of our favourites for a memorable autumn adventure on both sides of the river.

The zoo turns festively frightful on weekends right through October. There'll find trick-or-treat stations throughout the grounds, a daily Costume Cavalcade parade, and fall-themed foods. Don't forget to ride the Pumpkin Express train, with the final weekend landing on 31 October to 1 November 2026.
Also at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, the Jack O'Lantern Glow is a half-mile walkthrough trail lit by 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins, with glowing displays and special effects at every turn. Now in its third year, it welcomes all ages on select dates from 2 to 31 October 2026.
Across the river in Newport, Kentucky, the aquarium fills its tanks with glowing jack-o'-lanterns from 18 September to 1 November 2026. The centrepiece this year is a three-metre Giant Pacific Octopus sculpture made entirely of pumpkins, glowing inside the Surrounded by Sharks tunnel, joined by a new roughtail stingray. Being entirely indoors, it's the reliable option on a wet afternoon.
Kings Island's Tricks and Treats is a daytime, "all fun, no fear" event that wraps up before the after-dark scares begin. There's a trick-or-treat trail with costumed characters, mask-making, a Peanuts Halloween show with Snoopy and the gang, and family rides open throughout. It runs Saturdays and Sundays from 27 September to 1 November 2026.
On Halloween itself, 31 October from 4 to 6pm, the merchants of Findlay Market in Over-the-Rhine create a family-friendly Halloween celebration by dressing up and hand out sweets, with Halloween stalls setup inside the historic Market House and across various surrounding storefronts.
Pumpkins and Hayrides, Either Side of the River
For the classic farm day,
Blooms & Berries in Loveland, Ohio, runs Fall on the Farm daily from 19 September to 1 November 2026, with a five-acre corn maze, hayrides, a pumpkin patch and more than 40 farm animals. Over in Camp Springs, Kentucky,
Neltner's Farm holds its Fall Fest from 25 September to 31 October 2026, where horse-drawn wagons carry families out to a pick-your-own patch.
