As Seen in the Movies!

Go the distance to visit the family century farm with a baseball diamond carved right into its heart. This special place in Dyersville is where the famous movie “Field of Dreams” was filmed, and where the iconic quote, “If you build it, he will come,” was born.
When visiting, you will be able to  enjoy touring the farmhouse with a knowledgeable guide, playing catch on the legendary baseball diamond, and admiring the surrounding sea of cornfields. If visiting during the summer months, double check the events calendar to catch one of the Ghost Saturdays, where the entertaining Ghost Players take the field with their hilarious antics and celebrate the love of the game.
Another must-see landmark is the Bridges of Madison County, made famous by the bestselling novel and film. The six picturesque, covered bridges scattered across the county make for a relaxing and scenic road trip. You can either explore the bridges on your own or join a guided tour through the local chamber to learn about the bridges’ rich history and hear behind-the-scenes movie stories.
Visiting in October, you can find, the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival, complete with craft demonstrations, vendors, live music, and more. While in Winterset, you can  explore the charming historic town square filled with local shops and restaurants.
A fun fact! -  John Wayne, the legendary actor known for “True Grit,” was born here. You can book tours of his birthplace and museum while visiting.
