Beyond the sandy shores of Lake Michigan, you'll

look. With over 15 miles of Indiana coast and 50 miles of trails leading
through shifting sand dunes, quiet woodlands, sunny prairies and lush wetlands,
it's easy to find inspiration throughout the park’s 16,000 acres.
Hiking
The area offers over 50 miles of hiking trails that
meander through varied landscapes like dunes, marshes, prairies, and forests,
providing a rich outdoor experience for visitors. Among these, the famous Three
Dune Challenge stands out, inviting hikers to climb the three tallest dunes for
spectacular views. These trails vary from easy strolls to more challenging
treks, providing visitors a chance to explore the park’s rich habitats and

Beaches
Sandy beaches stretch along 15 miles of Lake Michigan’s
southern shore, making this area a popular summer destination for swimming,
sunbathing, and enjoying lakeside picnics. Among these beaches, West Beach is
the most frequented and features lifeguards during the summer months, along
with facilities like showers and bathrooms.

Bird Watching
Due to its strategic position at Lake Michigan's southern
tip, Indiana Dunes National Park is a vital stopover point for migratory birds
traveling along the Great Lakes flyway. The park hosts over 350 recorded bird
species, making it one of the top U.S. parks for bird diversity.
The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities to
