Day 1 - Arrive Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma City is the largest city in the state, and Bricktown - its renovated warehouse district - provides plenty of evening entertainment with over 30 canal-side restaurant and clubs. Visit the world class National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, the Red Earth Museum, FAM the First Americans Museum, the Myriad Botanical Gardens, the American Banjo Museum, the fast growing Boathouse District and the Paseo Arts District. Bustling Stockyard City is the home of America’s largest operating cattle auction, and you’ll find speciality merchants who offer superb Western apparel and supplies.

Day 3 - Drive to Sulphur, OK, approx. 95 miles
The Chickasaw Cultural Center celebrates Chickasaw history and culture through demonstrations and a living history village. It’s the largest tribal cultural centre in the US - 109 acres of rolling hills, woodlands and streams. The Chickasaw National Recreation Area is a lush paradise of unique flora and fauna and Travertine Ranger Station Visitors Center is a great place for a short hike. In nearby Davis don’t miss the lookout for Turner Falls, Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies, or Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch.

Day 4 - Drive to Medicine Park, OK, approx. 105 milesEn-route stop at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan and discover the famous Wild West cattle drive story of the Chisholm Trail. The Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton features archaeological and cultural artefacts and a replica of a trading post; and Fort Sill is an active Army Base, originally established in 1869, where you’ll find a museum and the gravesite of famous Apache chief, Geronimo.

Day 5 - Drive to Clinton, OK, approx. 85 miles
Explore an awe-inspiring mosaic of rocky lowlands, mixed-grass prairie, cross timbers and wildlife on the Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway. At any time of year you will be amazed by the sheer beauty of the byway. You won’t go wrong with a burger from Meers in Lawton – they are huge and delicious! Clinton is home to the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum, where you’ll find the world’s largest curio cabinet and an audio tour by baritone Mother Road historian Michael Wallis.

Day 6 - Drive to Tulsa, OK, approx. 200 miles
Today, cruise Route 66 for some kicks! Begin by heading east to Elk City for the National Route 66 Museum, before returning to Weatherford, where the Route 66 themed restaurant Lucille’s Roadhouse offers a variety of authentic diner food. The historic city of El Reno is home of the Onion Burger and lies at the crossroads of Route 66 and the Chisholm Trail, now known as U.S. Highway 81. Continue on to Guthrie, with the largest Historic Preservation District in the nation. Back on Route 66, enjoy the eclectic towns of Arcadia (stop for a cold drink at POPS!), Chandler, Stroud, Bristow and Sapulpa.
