Renowned painter Ivan Albright spent many years living and working in
Warrenville, where some of his most important works were created. His

paintings are now displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Comedy legend
John Belushi also has ties to the area, having grown up in Wheaton
before launching his career in Chicago’s famous comedy scene.
Historic

One of DuPage
County’s standout attractions is Cantigny Park, once the estate of
Chicago Tribune publisher Colonel Robert R. McCormick. Today the property
features beautiful gardens, museums and walking paths, and it even served as a
filming location for scenes in the classic baseball film A League of Their
Own.
Nearby, the Elmhurst
Art Museum is home to the McCormick House, designed by celebrated modernist
architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. His architectural vision helped
shape Chicago’s skyline and continues to influence design around the world.

will also find plenty to explore at The Morton Arboretum, a 1,700-acre

Route 66

DuPage also
lies along the historic Route 66, which runs through several communities
in the county and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026. The region’s
cultural legacy extends to music as well, as legendary blues musician Muddy
Waters lived in Westmont for many years and played a major role in shaping
the Chicago blues sound.
