Visit North Carolina
North Carolina’s evocative landscape and great outdoors attract thousands of
visitors annually – and have served as the backdrop to many blockbuster movies, including Dirty
Dancing, Last of the Mohicans and The Hunger Games.
It’s a state of diverse
beauty, offering up a fascinating blend of outdoor adventures and cultural
heritage.
The Mountains
Western North Carolina is home to the Blue Ridge Mountains
and Great Smoky Mountains, where you can soak up fantastic fall foliage,
vibrant spring flowers, charming little towns and rich Appalachian culture. Action and adrenaline activities in
the mountains include rock climbing and whitewater rafting, and of course they
are also the perfect destination for winter sports.
The Piedmont
Covering
nearly one half of North Carolina in the central part of the state, the
Piedmont is an area of gently rolling foothills. Here you’ll find great
shopping, boutique wineries and over 400 golf courses, including iconic Pinehurst.
The state is also home to stock car racing - the NASCAR Hall of Fame in
Charlotte is well worth a visit.
The Coast
The area along the coast has a wide range of accommodation
from luxurious eco-lodges to charming guesthouses. Here visitors can dive into
water sports, go boating, enjoy world-class saltwater fishing and visit historic
lighthouses such as America’s tallest, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. North Carolina’s
beaches are consistently rated among the best in the US - more than 300 miles are
waiting to be explored.
