Travelling to the USA you will need a visa

Visa (ESTA)

Apply for an ESTA quickly and easily at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta. For more information about entry into the USA, visit uk.usembassy.gov

Taking a road trip across the US you will need to be 21+

Drivers

A full UK driver's license is required to hire a car in the USA. Drivers must be 21 or over - or 25+ with some companies.

USA power supply

Power

The USA uses two-pin plugs so adaptors are required. Electrical goods bought in the USA may not work correctly in the UK.

Make sure you have travel and medical insurance for your visit

Insurance

Medical expenses are high in the USA so travel insurance with medical cover of at least £2million is recommended.

Tipping in America

Tipping

Tipping in the USA is the norm. As a minimum, tip 15% when dining in restaurants or $1 per drink in bars.
