Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau

Discover Philadelphia, the birthplace of the USA and the first World Heritage City in the country.

You’ll find a walkable city with charming neighborhoods filled with parks and outdoor cafes, cobblestone streets in the Historic District and Old City, modern skyscrapers and a thriving business and financial district. The city is also a shopper’s paradise, with no tax on clothing or shoes and everything from independent boutiques to major brand names and designers.

As the most historic city in the USA, visitors should not miss a tour of Independence National Historical Park, which contains two of the most famous monuments to the country’s history – the Liberty Bell, a symbol of freedom, and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the U.S. Constitution was drafted.

Take one of the many guided walking tours offered or put your feet up and enjoy a trolley or Big Bus tour of Center City with on-off privileges, or a Ride the Ducks tour (seasonal), where you will experience Philadelphia on land and from the Delaware River on an amphibious vehicle.  Or, head over to Benjamin Franklin Parkway, home to world-class art museums (and the famous Rocky steps) at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Just a short distance away is the Philadelphia countryside with rolling hills, historical sites, gardens and museums.
