Iowa
continues to surprise visitors, and 2026 brings even more reasons to explore
the state. From exciting new attractions and outdoor adventures to cultural
openings and iconic events, Iowa is adding fresh experiences that make it ideal
for road trips, family holidays and authentic Midwest travel.
Major New
Attractions
One of the
most talked-about additions is the MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower in
Council Bluffs. Rising 138 feet above River’s Edge Park, the tower will feature
panoramic river views, climbing walls, adventure courses and family-friendly
outdoor fun.
In Dubuque,
the new Wanderwood Gardens will offer a magical outdoor experience
filled with imaginative play spaces, tunnels, fairy houses and nature-inspired
family attractions beside the Arboretum.
History
and Culture Reimagined
The Herbert
Hoover Presidential Library & Museum in West Branch is set to reopen in
summer 2026 following a major revitalisation. New immersive exhibits will tell
the story of Hoover’s journey from Iowa beginnings to global leadership.
Meanwhile,
Clinton will welcome the first Iowa installations by world-famous artist Thomas
Dambo, with giant recycled wood troll sculptures becoming a permanent
attraction.
Food,
Drink and Local Flavour
In Sioux
City, the beautifully restored Sioux City Distilling Company will
combine craft spirits, dining and events inside a historic 1892 building.
Another standout is T12 Distillery in Bondurant, designed as America’s
only fully wheelchair-accessible distillery.
Iconic
Events Return
Sport lovers
should look ahead to August 2026, when Major League Baseball returns to the
Field of Dreams in Dyersville, bringing another unforgettable game to one
of America’s most iconic sporting locations.
