Chicago’s North Shore will join communities across the United States in
commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Stretching along the shores of Lake Michigan just north of Chicago, the region
will celebrate this historic milestone through music, culture and community
events that showcase the spirit of America.

highlights of the anniversary year will be Ravinia Festival’s America 250
Celebrations in Highland Park. As North America’s longest-running outdoor music
festival, Ravinia will present a series of performances celebrating American
