Philadelphia has long been a city of innovation – a place where history and creativity collide. In early 2026, it will host the North American premiere of an extraordinary new exhibition: Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition at The Franklin Institute.
---------------------------------------------
Opening on 14 February 2026, this world-first experience pulls back the curtain on the artistry, technology, and imagination behind some of Universal’s most beloved attractions – from the world-famous Studio Tour in Hollywood to the recent launch of Universal Epic Universe in Florida.
Covering more than 18,000 square feet, the exhibition features over 100 original artefacts, including ride designs, character costumes, props, and concept art from favourites such as Jurassic World, How to Train Your Dragon, and the classic Universal Monsters.
Across eight themed galleries and 25 interactive stations, visitors will step inside a universe of innovation powered by Universal’s talented creative teams. Storyboard artists, animators, game designers, visual-effects specialists, and prop masters all take centre stage, revealing how animatronics, ride design, special effects, and cutting-edge technology combine to create unforgettable moments of Universal magic.
The exhibition not only celebrates Universal’s creative legacy, but also showcases how its teams are shaping the future of immersive entertainment.
Produced in partnership with Universal Destinations & Experiences and MDSX, the exhibition continues The Franklin Institute’s tradition of hosting spectacular global premieres — from Harry Potter: The Exhibition to Disney100. Its arrival also coincides with Philadelphia’s preparations for America’s 250th birthday celebrations, adding yet another reason to plan a visit in 2026.
