What's New in Louisiana in 2026

The year-long initiative will showcase the natural beauty, rich flora and fauna, and myriad recreational opportunities that lie alongside Louisiana’s world-renowned culinary and musical scenes. Areas in the spotlight include airboat and kayak tours on the Atchafalaya Basin, America's largest river swamp; ancient landmarks such as Poverty Point UNESCO World Heritage Site; Louisiana's network of state parks; and the Audubon Golf Trail.
Explore Louisiana is encouraging visitors to get off the interstate and explore its scenic byways such as the 187-mile long Creole Nature Trail, spanning bayous, marshes and beaches. This All-American Road offers the perfect introduction to Louisiana’s ‘outback’, home to untouched wetlands, wildlife viewing, including excellent birding and small fishing communities offering fresh seafood.
Foodies can enjoy the Louisiana Hot Sauce Trail. The gourmet trail visits sites such as The Louisiana Pepper Exchange and celebrates local manufacturers such as Tabasco, on Avery Island. Visitors can also check in at different stops along the trail to earn points to redeem for prizes.
