A new fleet of Northwest-inspired Amtrak Cascades trains will begin transporting passengers in style between Vancouver (Canada), Seattle (Washington) and Portland (Oregon) in 2026, a year of US celebrations including America250 and FIFA World Cup 26™. The route is rolling out eight new trainsets and two new locomotives in the Pacific Northwest.
The Amtrak Cascades route runs from Eugene, Oregon, to Vancouver, B.C., and includes stops in Portland, Seattle and other Pacific Northwest destinations.
Amtrak Cascades makes it easy for fans attending FIFA World Cup 26™ to travel seamlessly between official host cities Vancouver (Canada) and Seattle (Washington) while also adding side trips into neighbouring Oregon to experience more of the Pacific Northwest during The Beautiful Game. Amtrak Cascades serves 18 stations along the I-5 corridor, offering a comfortable, scenic and well-connected way to explore the region.
While Oregon is a fantastic road trip destination, travelling by train offers a scenic and eco-friendly way to experience the state. Amtrak operates three routes across Oregon: Amtrak Cascades, which runs between Vancouver, Canada, and Eugene, Oregon; Coast Starlight, connecting Seattle and Los Angeles, California; and the iconic Empire Builder, which travels between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest. Along the way, the Empire Builder follows major sections of the historic Lewis and Clark Trail, journeying through vast wilderness landscapes once crossed by early pioneers. Each route offers beautiful views of wooded landscapes, easy access to fun-filled destinations and great onboard amenities.
Visitors can purchase point-to-point tickets if they want to spend time at any destination. Find out more about
