Get Real This Summer and Reach for the Stars

Signature article by Steve Hartridge.
Florida’s leading space-themed attraction, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, is inviting visitors to ‘Discover Something Real’ this summer by way of a packed schedule of events and celebrations.
Visitors to Florida can uncover the past, present and future of space exploration, immersing themselves in authentic and original experiences, displays, artifact and activities.
The week July 4-7 will feature July Fourth activities at the visitor complex, with several outdoor activities across the weekend. Guests can look forward to mini-golf, corn hole and much more, with all activities included with standard admission tickets.
And Moon Fest Weekend will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, which took place on July 20 1969. The visitor complex will honour history whilst also looking forward to NASA’s next giant leap – the Artemis missions.
The weekend of August 2-4, billed as Aviation Weekend, will see Veteran NASA Astronauts Scott Altman, Chris Ferguson and Tony Antonelli share their stories of reaching the skies and how they embarked on their paths during Tales from the Flight Deck.
In the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, guests can visit the Atlantis Aviation Center to craft an airplane and test whose flies the farthest. A photo booth will also allow visitors to take their own pilot photo. There will also be party tunes from a solar-powered DJ kiosk in front of Space Shuttle Atlantis from 12 – 4pm, all weekend long. A games area including mini golf and four in a row will also be set up nearby. All activities are included with admission.
Finally, on August 31 Kennedy Under the Stars is an exclusive after-hours event that the centre says, “combines visiting favourite attractions with a galactic glow party.”
The colours of the cosmos will be brought to life through a series of illuminated experiences designed to shine new light on a trip to the visitor complex. There will be: an 80s to 90s Video DJ in the Rocket Garden, Techno DJ dance party in NASA Central, Cosmic Glow Mini Golf under the massive Saturn 1B rocket, multisensory science experiments from the visitor complex STEAM Team and entertainment that will see former NASA astronauts mingling with guests throughout the evening.
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is organized into Mission Zones where attractions and tours are grouped by chronological era.
From the dawn of space exploration to current and ongoing missions, visitors get an up-close, hands-on feel for the story of humans in space.
