HERTZ JOINS MAINE’S BICENTENARY WITH LAUNCH OF NEW ROUTE

On March 15th Maine, the 23rd state, will celebrate the bicentenary of its statehood.
To celebrate Maine’s 200th state birthday and its glorious lighthouses, Hertz has added the ‘MagicalLighthouses of Maine’ route to its American Road Trip Planner, bringing the total to 35 bespoke routes on its hub for road trip planning and inspiration.
Maine's glittering coastline is ripe for a road trip. This coastal route takes in the best of the north-eastern state’s 52 functioning lighthouses, which stand guard between the seething Atlantic and Maine’s vast forests. Visitors to the area will pass quaint and colourful towns, where centuries of seafaring heritage have shaped the state’s way of life and customs.
Hertz’s ‘Magical Lighthouses of Maine’ route takes in 10 stops over 377 miles – from the southern Nubble Lighthouse to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, the United States’ easternmost town – and can be done in 7 days with plenty of time to take in the rich history and beauty of the state. Other reasons to explore the area include Maine’s famed produce of lobsters and oysters, amongst others, and its gleaming, white architecture.
