Hertz Launches Stellar New Route To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of Lunar Landing

It was 50-years ago this week that Apollo 11 left Earth (more precisely – Kennedy Space Center, Florida) and took Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the surface of the Moon. They left Earth on the July 16th, 1969, and, four days later, reached their destination. ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’ was uttered, history was altered, and the Moon would become a symbol of human endeavour and ingenuity.
To celebrate this feat, Hertz have put together an epic journey of their own. Housed on the Hertz American Road Trip Planner website, which offers over 30 bespoke routes to give you all the road trip inspiration you’ll ever need, One Small Step features 11 space-related stops over 2,636 miles from Washington to Texas (around a tenth of the distance to the Moon). These stops include:
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Washington DC
Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida
Space Center, Houston, Texas
With pitstops orbiting the likes of New Orleans and Walt Disney World’s Epcot for good measure, and a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is a road trip that is truly, well, out of this world.
The full route can be found at
Blast off on this route, or any others in the USA - book before the 31st July and pick-up your vehicle in the USA and Canada by 15th November 2019 and you can save up to 15% off your rental. For further information visit
