With over 95,000 miles of expansive coasts in climates and environments of all different kinds, it should be no surprise that the US is home to some of the greatest beach holiday experiences imaginable. There are beaches perfect for relaxing, others for partying, others for getting into the surf culture, and those best suited for diving underwater to get a good look at some of the most colourful and diverse wildlife possible. Here, we’re going to look at just some of the most chilled, exhilarating, and family-friendly of USA beach holiday destinations.

Miami Beach

It’s one of the most famous beaches in the whole country, if not the world, and that’s for good reason. Whether you prefer the idea of relaxing in the warmth of the most gorgeous weather with a backdrop of endless blue, or you want a coastal community that taps into the party life, you can find them both at Miami Beach. This is where people mingle, a cosmopolitan mix with a great surf culture alongside a line of affordable and tourist-friendly shops and restaurants. It’s also been rated one of the most child-friendly beaches in the world, so it’s perfectly suited for those who don’t want anything too wild for the whole family to enjoy.

Coronado Beach

Nestled in San Diego, Coronado Beach is Southern California’s most popular beach and that’s because it’s just so incredibly chilled. This is the perfect beach for those who prefer somewhere they can relax, take in the breeze, and enjoy the sunset without being interrupted by throngs of party-goers. It has soft sands, a Mediterranean climate that makes it a great destination for most of the year and one of the milder surfs in the country. That makes it one of the best places to take the whole family who want to experience surfing for the first time without taking risks against some of the more unruly waves you might find elsewhere. That’s not to say that there’s no party atmosphere here, at all. The Hotel del Coronado, in particular, is a spot famous for the most lavish of get-togethers thrown by the many celebrities that have enjoyed their time there.

Manele Bay

Hawaii’s beaches might be best known for being the birthplace of surfing, the ukulele, and all things easy-going. There are most definitely beaches on the islands better suited to surfing, but Manele Bay stands apart as one of the most naturally beautiful beaches in all the country. A true island paradise with long stretches of pure white sand, rocky trails to climb and water of the most perfect blue. The best part of the bay, Hulopo’e Beach, stands just below the Five Seasons on the island of Lana’i. Better still, it’s one of the best places for a swim in waters that can be as warm as 21 degrees Celsius. There’s no risk of being left shivering after a day swimming here.

Florida Keys

Just as natural, but entirely different, Florida Keys is a location unique to the United States. Sprawling islands dotting turquoise waters, this is a truly tropical location that’s not far from all the comforts of the continental US. There’s plenty of reason to go swimming with tropical fish, dolphins, sea turtles and much more making for one of the most richly biodiverse locations in the country. But at Key West, in particular, people really know how to enjoy coastal life. Every night at sunset, the streets come alive as people celebrate the end of the day with music, arts and partying that’s unlike anywhere else in the world.

Coast Guard Beach

Just one of the many great holiday spots located at Cape Cod, Coast Guard beach is one of the best destinations for those who don’t want to relax or party, but want to explore and experience terrain unlike anywhere else. With long stretches of uniquely coarse sand, it makes a perfect hiking spot. However, at around 18 degrees Celsius on average, the water is perfectly inviting for those who want to take a dip. New England might not be the most famous of locations for beach holidays, but Coast Guard Beach just goes to show that there’s plenty to do by the coast.

There’s a beach in the US for just about every kind of person, whatever you’re looking for - from long walks surrounded by some of the most unspoiled natural beauty to party spots that never seem to die down, in the USA you can find the beach holiday for you
