Visit USA Supports Santa Isabel School in Nicaragua

Each year at Visit USA's much-loved Summer Affair event, our members donate fabulous prizes for a raffle to raise valuable funds for charity. In 2023, our sponsor World Travel Market chose to support Just a Drop, a charity which seeks to bring sustainable safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities to transform lives.
The money raised has funded latrines for both students and teachers at Santa Isabel School, Nicaragua, plus a handwashing station and is already making such an impact on the community.
The school is located in the municipality of Terrabona in northern Nicaragua, and is attended by 28 children. Before work began, the school’s latrines were in such a state of disrepair that they were unusable. They were full with waste and likely to break at any moment, meaning that the children had nowhere to go to the toilet while at school. This made it very difficult to maintain proper hygiene standards at Santa Isabel and led to students having to miss school due to illness. They also did not have proper hand-washing facilities, making it even harder to maintain hygiene standards.
Visit USA are thrilled that the fundraising has been put to such good use!
